Norwegian Government
According to Norway.org, Norway's official site in the US, Norway is “a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democratic system” for its government structure. What confuses many people regarding who gets all the power is the fact that Norway is still considered somewhat of a monarchy. However, it's not a monarchy where there is a single king. It's more democratic than anything else. The citizens of Norway have the power to participate in the Storting, or Norwegian National Assembly, county councils, and municipal councils.
The democracy and the monarchy were both introduced in 1814. 70 years later, in 1884, the parliament was introduced as well. While the king has little actual power, he is considered to be both the head of state and the representative of Norwegian industry and society.
Much like the US, power is distributed between three different branches of government. The Storting has the legislative power, “the government” has the executive power, and the courts have the judicial power.
